In November 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly announced Canada’s new Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS). The
federal government did not hold any public consultations to develop the new strategy. Canadian and Asian women’s
groups were not invited to participate and provide input even though the strategy has grave implications for Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in the region.
