The Women, Peace and Security Network – Canada (WPSN-C) is a network of over 80 Canadian non-governmental organizations and individuals committed to:
- Providing a forum for exchange and action by Canadian civil society on issues related to women, peace and security; and
- Promoting and monitoring the efforts of the Government of Canada to implement and support the United Nations Security Council Resolutions on women, peace and security.
Women, Peace and Security
The WPSN-C supports and monitors the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions on women, peace and security. This includes UNSCR 1325 and 1889 on the participation of women in peace processes; UNSCR 1820, 1888 and 1960 on sexual violence in conflict; and UNSCR 2122 on women’s leadership in conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
As the Government of Canada has agreed to implement these resolutions and created a National Action Plan for the Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security (NAP), the WPSN-C engages with civil society and the Government of Canada to ensure that the resolutions and NAP are fulfilled.
