I’m a Leadership and Conflict Coach and Trainer, with long experience in conflict resolution. I’m on the board of Canadian Peace Initiative, advocating a Canadian Federal Department of Peace. I also provide Soulful Guidance for Life and Relationships
Also, I’m presently working, through the Canadian Peace Initiative and Global Alliance for Ministries and Infrastructures of Peace, on a draft UN resolution for Ministries and Infrastructures for Peace in all countries and gathering Canadian officials’ support for it.
Who do you admire in the WPS field?
Courageous women who lead peacebuilding and governance initiatives with competence and compassion.
What have you read recently that you would like to recommend to Network members?
If you could make one recommendation on WPS issues to Prime Minister Trudeau, what would it be?
Establish a Federal Department of Peace so there would be a clear mandate and vision, a voice in the parliament, a sufficient budget and accountability. We, in the Canadian Peace Initiative (CPI), have been advocating for this in Canada since 2004 and tabled 2 bills in the Parliament, and it is time for Canada to lead in this direction. CPI is nonpartisan and not-for-profit and is a member of the Global Alliance for Ministries and Infrastructures of Peace (GAMIP). At this time, Costa Rica has a Department of Peace and Justice; Solomon Islands, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan have ministries of peace. Other countries have generated committees for peacebuilding or conflict resolution, such as Britain and Kenya. More info at: http://www.canadianpeaceinitiative.ca
What is your dream for the WPS agenda?
We are already transforming the world, each in her field, creating a culture of peace, healing and compassion.
